I made these magnets using the Scallop Circle Die and Clear Circle Die from Stampin' Up! with the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. I also used "Sunny Day" Simply Scrappin Kit which I earned from Stampin' Up! Then I purchased magnets and glued them on the back. I made a set for my mother-in-law, my Aunt Helen and my mother for Mother's Day. I also made one for my sister, Kathi. I think they will love these! These would make great gifts all year long. Bumble Bee Punch Card

This bumble bee punch card came from last years fall fest but thought it is appropriate to give to someone special for a spring card. This card is made from the ornament punch, small oval punch, and 3/4 " circle punch. The swirls behind the bumble bee are made by paper piercinig the card stock. Enjoy!

Getting ready for Winterfest 2010!

Hi Everyone!

I'm getting ready for Winterfest and I'm really excited about it for 2 reasons: first, two of my sons are going with me and that's always fun to do something special with them and secondly, I made a decision to give half of what I make at Winterfest to Hope World Wide, an awesome charity that gives 91% of donations directly to the program costs.

My Stampin' Up! "workshop" will be in Room 105 and kids can make a Build-A-Bear bag, a princess purse, a beaded pen, a Build-A-Bear goody bag with treats in it or a card. Each project will cost $2.00 and $1.00 will go to Hope Worldwide.

Winterfest is so much fun for young and old alike. There's the avenue of shoppes (which I always enjoy), there's games for the kids in the gym and last year they got to watch their teachers get dunked in the dunk tank. In the cafeteria there's popcorn and cotton candy and many gift baskets to be won, too. This year, each shoppe will be raffling off a gift bag of at least $25.00 worth of products. (There's a Sock Monkey Stamp Set in my basket along with some other goodies...)

Winterfest is held at Ironia Elementary School in Randolph, NJ on Saturday, February 6th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The snowdate will be Sunday, Jan 7th from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm.

Faux Quilt Card

I love this card made at Fall Fest this past September. To recreate it, cut out squares from your favorite designer series papers or cardstock making them into a design and affix them on a piece of cardstock big enough to cut it out with the Big Note Die and the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. Then add faux stitching with your Stampin' Write Marker. The number of different designs you can make with this are unlimited!

Family Calendar 2010

I just made my first project using My Digital Studio and I'm attaching the cover page and the month of January here to share it with you. This is my in-laws Christmas present. I'll be making one for my parents also. It was sooo easy to make and I had so much fun playing with all of Stampin' Ups! digital stamp sets, papers, punches and embellishments. And after I was done making it, for just 29.95, I ordered it through Stampin' Up's professional printing center. I should be getting it in about 10 days.

Here's one of the cards we made at my Cardmaking for All Occasions classes at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, NJ. To recreate this card I used the round tab punch and 1 3/8 punch and the boho blossoms punch for the apple. We embossed the thank you with white embossing powder. Okay, I have been reluctant to purchase the digital scrapbooking and cardmaking software that Stampin' Up! has just put out. I thought, I like the hands on layering, textured look you get with handmade projects; until I learned all you can do with the digital software. Did you know you can make calendars for next year using your friends and family's pictures on each month of the calendar? Or that you can create personal scrapbooks much quicker and give them out as Christmas presents? My neice, Brielle just had her 13 year old birthday party with all her friends and I took great pictures. She would just love a personalized scrapbook as a keepsake for this memory in her life. I think I found our Christmas picture for this year that I'll be sending everyone. We went away this past weekend to Tom's River, NJ with my sister in law and her family. We had such a great time! I even got to go on a date with my husband while she and her husband watched our kids. Here's a picture of me and my husband and also one of my three neices.

We had a great time entering our bearded dragon in the Morris County Fair 4H Club. It was hard dropping him off Thursday night and leaving him there but there were people there watching the lizards overnite, every night for 3 nights! The judging was on Saturday at 1 Pm and he won a "very good" ribbon. It was a great experience for us all.

Morris County 4H Fair

My son is enrolling his Bearded Dragon, Happy, in the hepatology show at the Morris County 4H Fair in Chubb Park, Chester, NJ. It was hard to leave him there last night when we had to drop him off. But he was in good company with 3 other Bearded Dragons, snakes, lizards and a frog. Click here for more information about the fair. Admission is free but they ask for a $5.00 donation for parking.

new landscaping project

We never could grow grass well in the front lawn because of two big beautiful trees in our yard that covered our lawn with shade. So last year I planted ajuga (recommended from a landscaper) and we put down some red mulch. Hopefully, the plan is that the ajuga will take over and next year we'll put some plants down, too.

This was made with a retired stamp set that I borrowed from my mother and Sincere Salutations. The inks and paper used are Mellow Moss, Barely Banana, Almost Artichoke, Real Red and Red Gingham Ribbon.

My neighbor told me how to display my children's artwork using eyehole screws and twine and I love the way it came out. Then all you have to do is use clothes pins to hang the work.

My sister in law is a volunteer for FOWA, an animal rescue in Wayne, NJ, and asked me to make a poster to display pictures of their current animals that were rescued. So here's what I came up with. The page protectors are 8 1/2" X 8 1/2" and I used the 1 1/4" circle round punch and the 1/2" circle punch for the paw prints on Brilliant Blue cardstock and the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine with the Serif Alphabet for the small letters from Stampin' Up! The big letters I got at Target. She loved it! It'll look even better with the pictures of the cats and dogs in it.

diego/father's day cake

This was the cake I was supposed to have for Hunter's Diego party but after making the goodie bags, the pinata, the animal science books, and planning out all the events for the party, Hunter came down with a fever and we had to cancel the party! So I froze the cake/cupcakes without the frosting and I used it for father's day instead. It was delicious. And can't wait to share all the exciting things that have been happening lately...

Susie's Coaches Thank You Cards

My friend, Susie, asked me if I could make some thank you cards for her sons' baseball coaches so here's what I came up with. I didn't have any baseball stamps so I used a retired Simply Scrappin' Toy Box kit for the die cut baseball stickers. I used dimentionals to raise them off the page and I used white embossing powder and a Versa Mark pad for the sentiment "thanks so much."

finishing touches for hunter's diego party

I made these goodie sacks (left) with the 1 3/4" and the 1 1/4" punches using brilliant blue and yo yo yellow cardstock and of course, the stampin' write markers (brilliant blue, gable green and the white gel pen). Then for the Animal Science Notebooks, I used mini composition books and covered the back and front using close to cocoa cardstock, and printed out each party guests name on the computer using the orange font color and very vanilla cardstock. I used the corner rounder to mimic the shape of the mini composition books rounded corners. They measured 3" X 4 1/2."

So we rented Marley and Me for family movie night and I actually enjoyed it. We had to fast forward one scene because of our young kids when they were trying to become pregnant and there was also some bad language here and there, which our children know that we don't use in our house, but what part I think I enjoyed most was the changing of the seasons scenes when they moved to PA and just the day to day life that they lived and how they were able to work things out instead of giving up or ending their marriage.

My son and I made this pinata this morning in preparation for his Diego Birthday Party next week. It's not one of those pinatas that you break open with a stick, I wanted it to be safer for 3 year olds so I made it be a pull string one. Outdoor Park Service at Lewis Morris Park

We had an outside park church service yesterday at Lewis Morris Park. It was really great! Our elder talked about us all having an opportunity to know God better and that we can know him better through bible study, prayer and talking to other Christians. Then we had a picnic afterwards while the kids played baseball with one of the teen workers. We'll have another park service in July. Next week we'll be meeting at the Marriott Hotel on Rt. 10 in Parsippany at 10 AM. And of course, you are all invited to come!

Chester Fair Purchase

We had a great time at the Spring Chester Craft Show. There was homemade kettle corn, so many vendors, music, and here's a picture of the purchase my husband and I both loved...it's the window frame hanging on our wall with the little heart and wreath attached to it.

Summer cherries...

Cherries always reminds me of summer and summer is right around the corner. The cherries on this card came from Stampin' Up!'s Just Jawin stamp set. The textured dots in the back ground were made with the Big Shot and the large dots texture plate. Red gingham ribbon and Warm Words stamp set complete this project. This would be a perfect card to give a friend just to say "hi".

I've been sending cards out as fast as I can make them lately. A Welcome card to a neighbor who just moved in and a Get Well card to a friend who just got out of the hospital. I love the layout of these cards because they are simple yet interesting and quick and easy to make. I got the first design from a card Jen Peel, my Stampin' Up! upline, made for me and the second one I got from a card swap years back. I have a bunch of designs I use over again just switching up the colors and sentiments which makes designing cards so much easier.

Our new camera came and here's one of the projects we'll be making at my Mom & Me class...

The flowers are made from light blue, purple and magenta sticky felt I bought at AC Moore and cut with the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and the New Flower Layers Die. It is so easy to make many beautiful flower layers at one time for all your projects.

Okay, so we ordered our new camera and it's a Canon Powershot SD1100-IS Gold 8 MP Digital ELPH Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom. We looked on Consumer Report for the recommendation and then we shopped around and found the best price at Walmart. It should ship this week. Click here to see a picture of what it will look like.

I'm Back!

We had a great week at Myrtle Beach, SC. We went down with two other families and stayed at a great kid friendly resort with a Lazy River, many indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs and it was right on the ocean. The ride was a little rough at 18 hrs going there and about 12 coming back but it was a great get away. My goal was to come back refreshed and inspired and I feel all that and more.
Our camera broke while down there so we are in the middle of buying another one. And we are also in the process of getting a new rug, etc. for our basement since our hot water heater acted up while we were away.
I am getting new catalog goodies from SU! today. I am sooo excited because I'm going to be using them in my Stamp-A-Stack class offered Monday night, April 27th from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, NJ. Click here for more details on that and how you can sign up.

We made this this card at my Cardmaking for All Occasions class. We colored directly on the stamp with Stampin' Write Markers to achieve this look. Then we sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds on the light purple parts to add some sparkle. The background purple textured look was made with direct to paper technique with the stamp pad.

Easter Favors

I made these as favors for my son, Harry's birthday party but I thought they could also really be cute for Easter to give out to a classroom of children or even to friends' and family's kids for Easter. I used the 3/4", 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" circle punches and the scallop punch to make the chick. The paper is the Delicate Dots DS paper and I cut it out freehand in a zigzag pattern to look like a cracked egg. I used the Certainly Celery Ribbon and So Saffron Ribbons for decoration. I made the eyes and beak with Only Orange and Black Stampin' Write. Inside I included candy, a Rice Krispy Treat, a tree bark crayon and a little stamp. Hope you enjoy it!

Practicing Calligraphy

You've created the perfect hand stamped card, the design fits the person perfectly but when it comes time to write on the inside, your handwriting is sloppy.

One way to prevent sloppy handwriting is to practice writing calligraphy. This book was recommended by Kristina Werner in her blog and so I tried it for myself. I've been doing it for about 3 months now and the object isn't to imitate this author's handwriting but to learn how to develop the letters so that you improve your own handwriting and it becomes your own.

Embossing Night

This is one of the cards we made for the second night of my Cardmaking for All Occasions class that is being offered at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, NJ.

Students learned heat embossing, impression embossing and adding texture to cards with texture plates. Each week we build on what we've learned.

Techniques used on this card include: stamping, layering, tearing, and heat embossing. Vellum and mulberry and gold metallic papers were used for added dimension and texture.

Jason's Birthday Present

I made this set of 8 cards and envelopes for a neighborhood friend whose son is turning 5. What I love about this gift is that after the birthday party and all the gifts are opened, mom and son can work on filling out thank you notes together for all the presents he received. I included a neat matching crayon so Jason can color in the stars and mom can write out the notes; a very practical and meaningful present.

Cardmaking for All Occasions

Here's one of the cards we made on the first night of my Cardmaking for All Occasions Class at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, NJ. This card uses the Bud Basics, Friend by Definition, and the Rough Texture Stampin' Around Wheel. The paper used: Kraft, Barely Banana, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and Gold Metallic. Inks: More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Apricot Appeal. Accessories included: Sponge, Crimper, More Mustard Button, Hemp Twine and gold cord. Many techniques were covered in this card such as two-step stamping, tearing, using sponges, crimping and distressing. Next week we will be focusing on embossing!

Harry's Birthday Invitations!

I had fun making these invitations for Harry's birthday party. We are going to make a craft and then he and his friends are going to play some football on the side of our yard. I'll post another picture of the craft we'll be making. Harry picked out the stamp set himself that we'll be using...

Margie's Birthday Present

Did I show you the present I made for my friend, Margie? I love making homemade presents for my friends because I think about them, their favorite colors, their favorite things, and then I incorporate them somehow into the style and color of the gift I decide to make.

This note book and pen set was made with the Sale-a-bration stamp set and DS paper called Polka Dot Punches (stamp set) and Delicate Dots(DS paper). I used Apricot Appeal 1/4" grosgrain ribbon and I cut out the heart on Sahara Sand Paper and embossed it with clear embossing powder to make the dots "pop". I embellished the heart with a Baja Breeze button from "Button Bouquet" and hemp twine. The pen is an RSVP by pentel and I took the writing off of it with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and rolled up a piece of the Delicate Dots DS paper and put it inside the pen to make it coordinate with the note pad. And Voila!

Watercolor Crayon Class

Here's two of the cards we made at my Watercolor Crayon Class. What I love about these crayons is that you can get two totally different looks just by the way you use the crayons; for the flower card, I colored directly on the stamp and sprayed the stamp with water before applying it the watercolor paper; and for the fern card, I colored directly on the watercolor paper and then used the aqua painter to blend the colors. I made these cards for the New Year to remind me of my New Year's Resolution; to simplify my life.
